A recent report has stated that India’s energy sector might generate over 330,000 jobs until2022. It added that this change would also enhance energy security and access along with helping in mitigating climate change.
The report also pointed out that India’s clean energy initiatives have the power to deal with poverty in rural areas by offering healthcare benefits, steady income and skill-building opportunities to semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
This report mentioned that if India stresses more on clean energy push, it will improve energy access in India’s rural communities where the poorest live. These initiatives will help such people as their kids will be able to get time to study after school. Such people will also have better incomes, improved health outcomes, and greater productivity.
The report was named as “Can renewable energy jobs help reduce poverty in India?” and it was released by the World Resources Institute which is a renowned international research organization. It mentioned that renewable energy is also a great option because it offers an alternative to subsistence farming to India’s rural poor.
This report also said that semi-skilled and unskilled workers in the rural areas are finding it hard to get employment in the clean energy sector and training programs designed for this purpose have failed to generate many results.
